Impact Investor Set to go Beyond ESG

Impact investor firm Melior, which has recently opened its doors, is seeking for winners who are doing good, and not just reducing harm.

Fund manager Tim King and chief executive Lucy Steed believe that Melior will be the first dedicated equities-focused impact manager in Australia, and will go beyond environmental, social and governance (ESG)-related practices.

Melior has developed investment themes, such as "zero hunger" or "no poverty" and turn these high level ideas into action. According to King, he will not buy ESG research off the shelf, a common and potentially problematic strategy used by many fund managers.

King and Steed have conducted 170 company visits as they have developed their ESG and financial analysis. According to Steed, Melior is now in talks with super funds, universities, nbd financial adviser groups as it "rattles the tin for potential investors."

Melior's team is committed for the long term. Melior is Latin for "better".
