It's a sign of the times: A climate-science startup has raised $37 million in a new round of funding.
Sustaincert, a Luxembourg-based company, says it will use the money to "accelerate the acceleration of the commercial, organizational and technology scale up to support the growth of its recently launched value chain decarbonization impact solution for Scope 3 emissions and the soon to be launched digital verification solution for carbon markets," reports the Wall Street Journal.
The company says it will use the funds to launch a software platform for digital verification and management of climate claims across carbon markets and value chains.
Sustaincert was founded in 2015 by Marion Verles, a former climate adviser to the governments of Denmark and Switzerland, per Quartz.
"We're really at the dawn of a new era," Verles says.
"There's a huge opportunity to create a low-emissions future."
Sustaincert says it will use the funds to provide impact validation and verification services for carbon markets and value chains.
