A startup called Farmceries has won Nigeria's first tech challenge in more than a decade, the Next Web reports.
According to the Guardian, the grand prize of the 2024 Innovation Challenge, organized by investment group FinTrak Software, went to a company called Farmceries, which uses technology to help farmers grow more crops.
Farmceries will receive a cash prize of $750,000 and a three-month business incubation program.
The challenge focused on the agricultural, health, and financial sectors.
According to the Next Web, more than 100 students from Nigerian universities took part in the ideation phase, which involved "thorough training sessions, incorporating problem statements and instructing on the use of Lean Canvas for idea documentation."
They also learned how to effectively pitch their ideas.
