"Election as a member of the ASCI or AAP is a milestone achievement in the career of a physician-scientist," says Tatiana Foroud, executive associate dean for research affairs at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
"I'm thrilled that the innovation and outstanding research of our faculty is being recognized at such a high level."
The five faculty members were recently inducted into the societies, which "exemplify the pinnacle of pioneering and enduring, impactful contributions to improve health," Foroud says in a press release.
The American Society for Clinical Investigation is a nonprofit medical honor society comprised of more than 3,000 physician-scientists representing all medical specialties and dedicated to the advancement of research that extends understanding of diseases and improves treatment.
Members must be physicians who have "accomplished meritorious original, creative, and independent investigations in the clinical or allied sciences of medicine," and who enjoy "unimpeachable moral standing in the medical profession."
