The Roman Catholic Church has undergone many changes under the very different style of leadership of Pope Francis. Among these changes is broadening the conversation among what might otherwise be considered disparate groups, such as those in business and those in social ministry. One such example of broadening this conversation is the recently held 2nd Vatican conference on impact investing.
To help bring both parties to equal footing in understanding the jargon of impact investing, church and social ministry participants undertook a 2-day training ahead of the conference. This helped the conversation between those involved in impact investing with those social ministers who aren't familiar with the benefits it could offer their groups. Further conversations are needed, and will certainly be held both inside and outside of such conferences in the future.
